Optibelt Production Mexico receives two awards for its exceptional commitment to occupational safety and employee security

San Juan del Río, Querétaro, 20 May 2025 Optibelt Production Mexico (OPM) is proud to announce that it has received two important awards from the Mexican federal authorities in recognition of its commitment to occupational safety and the well-being of the employees.

ELSSA award for a healthy and safe working Environment

OPM was awarded the official “Distintivo ELSSA” – a seal of approval for companies that voluntarily take part in the ELSSA programme (“Entornos Laborales Seguros y Saludables”; i.e. “Safe and healthy workplaces”) of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS; i.e. “Mexican Institute for Social Security”). This national programme aims to promote healthy and safe working conditions through preventive measures and continuous improvement.

After successful completion of an external audit, OPM met the programme's basic requirements, including the prevention of workplace accidents, health monitoring in the workplace and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

This award comes as the result of a comprehensive approach, in which both leaders and workers were involved. The following deserve special mention: Jesús Domínguez (Environment, Health and Safety Management) and Yesenia Muñiz (HR), who led and implemented the required measures with great dedication.

“This award is a testament of our consequent orientation on prevention, responsibility and staff protection. We are proud of having created an environment in which our employees feel safe and appreciated”, explains Konrad Ummen, CEO of the Arntz Optibelt Group.

“Distintivo Cero Accidentes” – zero occupational accidents in 2023

OPM was also awarded the “Distintivo Cero Accidentes” – an acknowledgement of having achieved zero registered occupational accidents in the period from January 2023 to June 2024. Across the entire state of Querétaro, only three of the more than 450 companies participating in the ELSSA programme have received this award.

This certification is an impressive proof of the successful implementation of OPM’s safety strategy. It requires consistent adherence to all safety regulations – by employees as well as visitors, suppliers and customers who access the factory premises.

A sustainable commitment to safety and health

“These successes are the result of hard work and genuine conviction. OPM’s entire workforce has shown that safety, health and prevention form integral parts of our company culture”, emphasises Sergio Siller, Operations Manager at OPM.
