WDR visits Optibelt: Focus on Economic Development in Höxter

As part of a feature on municipal economic development, a camera team from Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) visited the headquarters of the Arntz Optibelt Group in Höxter. Part of the filming took place in the test facility on Corveyer Allee and addressed the role of manufacturing companies in the region – with a visit to Optibelt as an internationally operating industrial enterprise with deep roots in Höxter.

Exchange with the City and Economic Development Office

Prior to filming, which had already taken place at various locations in Höxter’s city centre – including at “Leckeres Weserbergland” – there was an in-depth preliminary discussion with Höxter’s Mayor, Daniel Hartmann, and Economic Development Officer, Jana Jungblut. Key questions were discussed: How can a municipality actively shape economic development? Which framework conditions are crucial for industry? And how can location attractiveness and skilled labour retention be strengthened in the long term?

Economic Development as a Location Factor

The focus of the filming at the Arntz Optibelt Group’s test facility was the interplay between the city and industry. “For Optibelt, strong local economic development is essential. The City of Höxter can make a major contribution to making the location attractive for skilled workers – through quality of life, infrastructure, education, and close cooperation with businesses. Only together can we create a stable foundation for a strong region and a future-proof industry,” emphasised Managing Director, Regina Arning.

The WDR feature will be broadcast in the context of the upcoming local elections and aims to show how municipal policy can actively contribute to strengthening the business location.
